The Path Forward:
Rebuilding community trust through real transparency means being present and accessible. We will foster community engagement through open forums and transparent reporting systems. By listening to our citizens and providing clear documentation of our actions, we build a department that works with the community, not just in it.
Modernizing policing is no longer an option—it is a necessity for public safety. We will implement data-driven strategies and technological advancements to optimize response times while intensifying our focus on the mental health and opioid crisis that affect the heart of Windsor County.
Integrity is the foundation of public trust. Joshua Lake is committed to restoring an unwavering standard of ethics to the Sheriff's Office. Through accountable leadership and a culture of personal responsibility, we will ensure that every deputy serves with the professionalism Windsor County deserves.
Goals
Modernizing Mental Health Response
We will work to integrate clinical professionals into emergency response protocols, ensuring that those in mental health crisis receive immediate, specialized care rather than traditional law enforcement intervention alone.
Battling the Opioid Epidemic
Our strategy targets the root of the crisis: dismantling high-level trafficking networks through targeted interdiction efforts in our most vulnerable communities.
Expanding access to harm reduction services and community-based recovery resources.
Integrity & Public Safety
Restoring trust through absolute transparency, mandatory department reporting, and consistent community engagement models that put the citizens of Windsor County first.
MEET JOSHUA
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. As I'm sure you figured out by now, my name is Joshua Lake and I am a Democratic Candidate for Windsor County Sheriff. I am a fully certified level III Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Vermont, and serve as a Patrolman with the Bellows Falls Police Department. Prior to becoming an officer I ran my own business for several years.
I come from a law enforcement family, my grandfather, my father, and both my uncles have made longstanding careers in this profession and I am proud to continue carrying that torch. That being said I know firsthand the evolving challenges facing Windsor County. I am running for Sheriff to bring a fresh perspective centered on integrity and transparency within Windsor County.
My commitment to you is this: I will build a department that you can trust. When you call for help, whether that be a cat stuck in a tree or a crime has occurred, a Deputy will respond. Those Deputy's are an extension of myself, and when they show up, they will treat you with respect. I want to foster an environment where the residents of Windsor County feel safe when they see our blue lights.
My goals as Sheriff are clear: create a high functioning department that is centered on community oriented policing while simultaneously targeting the high level narcotics networks that have embedded themselves into our most vulnerable communities.
I look forward to achieving these goals together, as Sheriff.
Best,
Joshua Dean Lake
